Timeline

With Jess being in Africa, these next two weeks will be coming up with final sketches, we are both doing are own and will have a design finished the week she gets back (The first week in March), with that in mind, here is our proposed timeline:

-Get supplies and assemble frame by March 8th
-Have surface prepared and ready for painting by March 15th
-Painting the mural March 15th - to be completed by April 14th
-Installation of finished Mural Week of April 14th


Pretty straight forward.

Trip to Home Depot!

Before Jess goes gallivanting off to Africa, we took a trip to research supplies, so we could submit a budget to Indy Hall. We decided on the dimensions of the mural being 5' x 12', with that in mind our supply list runs about $209. This included the hardboard and wood framing, six gallons of paint plus primer, and supplies to make the wall mounts. We rounded up to $250 for extra supplies (rollers, paint brushes, etc.) We're making steps to be well on our way.

First meetings

Jess and I went to meet with Alex yesterday at Indy Hall, where we will be putting our mural. Jess posted the pictures of the spot we decided on placing our mural, here are some photos of places we considered before we made our decision.

Ultimately we decided to ambitiously take the long main wall visible from every part of Indy Hall (see Jess' blog for pictures)


Since our meeting, Jess and I have been discussing different materials, and content to fit the essence of Indy Hall. Alex brought up the symbolism of the starfish and the spider to represent coworking, so we are trying to incorporate that imagery into our mural. At this point we plan on using masonite panels to paint directly on. We'll keep you posted on decisions as they arise!
